Professor Daly is the former New England correspondent for the Washington Post and works as a freelance writer for publications such as the Atlantic Monthly, the Washington Post, and the Boston Globe. He has also served as Statehouse Bureau Chief for the Associated Press. He is coauthor of Like a Family: The Making of a Southern Cotton Mill World (1987, University of North Carolina Press).
