WORKSHOP: Shadow Banking and
Systemic Risk in Global Finance
Interdisciplinary scholarly endeavor brings together economists, political economists, legal scholars, economic geographers and sociologists of finance.
The rise of shadow banking has been of the most important economic phenomena of recent economic history and a critical site of systemic crisis developments. But despite the high-profile of this financial phenomenon, scholarship has been sluggish in its attempts to understand its politics as well as the economic generators if its emergence and current dynamics. Looking at political economies as different as the US and China, this interdisciplinary workshop aims to clarify some of the fundamental puzzles of this pillar of global finance.
