ASC Awarded over $2.2 Million in National Resource Center (NRC) and Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) grants
The African Studies Center at the Boston University Fredrick S Pardee School of Global Studies is proud to announce that it has been awarded National Resource Center (NRC) and Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) grants from the US Department of Education. The African Studies Center will receive more than $2.2 million over four years to provide fellowships for students and support Africa-focused education, particularly African language instruction. The center currently offers courses in Amharic, Hausa, Igbo, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, Twi, Wolof, Xhosa, and Zulu. Outside of strengthening the language curriculum, the grants will help expand outreach efforts, in the United States, Ethiopia, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania.
