Dr. Hyeouk “Chris” Hahm is an associate professor and chair of the social research department at SSW. As a health services researcher, her research topics include health risk behaviors and the impact of psychosocial stressors on changes in the epigenetics of physical health among Asian Americans. She also focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on young adults’ mental and physical health. She is an author of numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and has given more than 200 professional talks. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. She created AWARE intervention, designed to improve well-being among Asian American youths. She is a recipient of “a research mentor award” at Boston University and “innovator’s award” from the Asian Women for Health organization. She is a fellow of the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) for her contribution to advance and translate research to promote a diverse and just society.
