Dr. Whitmore is a clinical assistant professor in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies department. He has a decade of service as a higher education professional interrogating access and equity, which has been critical in assisting and conducting research. Dr. Whitmore’s scholarly work represents an integration of the scholarship of higher education, educational history, leadership, and sociology. He explores how resource investments in recruiting students of color influence retention. He has also designed and implemented frameworks for developing comprehensive services for the transition and retention of STEM students, with a particular focus on underrepresented populations. Dr. Whitmore has collaborated with educators, scientists, administrators, and community organizations to provide research and resources that improve teaching and learning, while increasing access to quality STEM learning experiences, both formal and informal. Dr. Whitmore completed his graduate work at Louisiana State University and as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
