Dr. Julie Palmer, left, and Lauren Barber, doctoral student working with the BWHS, present research results at the September 2017 AACR meeting in Atlanta.

Dr. Julie Palmer, co-Principal Investigator of the BWHS, was the 2017 recipient of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Distinguished Lectureship on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities. The award honors an investigator whose novel and significant work has had or will have a far-reaching impact on the etiology, detection, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer health disparities. Dr. Palmer gave her lecture on September 25, 2017 in Atlanta, describing her breast cancer research in the BWHS. Many in the audience were already familiar with the BWHS; others were thrilled to hear about it. Follow the link to read more about the lecture and Dr. Palmer’s research in this AACR news release.

The continuing commitment of all women who participate in the BWHS makes Dr. Palmer’s research possible. We are truly “working together to improve the health of Black women”.
