Antiracism coverage

BU Today writers attended the all-day sessions Wednesday for the University’s Day of Collective Engagement: Racism and Antiracism, Our Realities and Our Roles. Read updates, highlights, fascinating comments, and quotes and images from throughout the day, as they happened.

The session titled “The Arts & Antiracist Practices” featured CFA Dean Harvey Young and Ty Furman of the BU Arts Initiative. 

Andre de Quadros, Professor of Music, hosted a presentation during the session titled “Research on Tap: Emerging Scholarship on Racism & Antiracism.” Andre de Quadros also participated in a discussion today titled “Inspiring Justice Leadership at BU: Teaching, Research & Practice.”

CFA alum Joel Gill (CFA’04) participated in the session titled “Black BU: An Intergenerational Conversation About Alumni Experiences with Racism & Antiracism on Campus.”

Dr. Karin Hendricks, Associate Professor of Music and Chair of Music Education, moderated the panel discussion titled “Inclusive Pedagogy & Decolonizing the Curriculum.”
