Reflecting: Fall 2021 in Photos

December 10, 2021
Twitter Facebook

Intermission is over. Art, music, and theatre are back and stronger than ever.

The energy at BU College of Fine Arts this Fall 2021 semester was immeasurable. After a year and a half of virtual courses and gatherings, we experienced a vibrant term with the return of a fully residential campus. Though some meetings and panels led by our experts remained virtual, there was no doubt that in-person events made a comeback, and that the arts are more important than ever. We witnessed strong performances from our theater students examining challenging and crucial topics. We saw ALL the attention to detail coming from our visual arts students in art exhibitions displayed in gallery spaces and on our buildings’ walls. And the passion and dedication of our music students and ensemble performances left us with goosebumps (the good kind).

As we reflect on this term that’s about to come to a close, we continue feeling thankful for our community of artists, scholars, artists-scholars, and more. Here’s a photo recap of our favorite moments from Fall 2021!

Some of the hits:

  • Our very own Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre set the stage for sustainability, becoming LEED silver certified. It’s energy and water-efficient and prepared for any effects of climate change.
  • Members of the Class of 2020 finally had their moment in the sun, with BU’s historic Class of 2020 Commencement. An estimated 1,818 grads traveled from 46 states and from across the globe to attend the ceremony that took place in October.
  • BU Art Galleries’ Radical Return exhibition, on view at Stone Gallery through December 12, was selected as a Boston Globe Critic’s Pick. The exhibition is also on view simultaneously at IS A GALLERY in Shanghai, China!
