Leping’s research interests include occupational mobility, social inequality and stratification, education, and life course trajectories. Her master’s thesis was about human capital and the upward occupational mobility of rural migrant workers in China, with a particular focus on the differentiated marginal effects of different human capital factors, which are related to the careerprogression paths across occupational groups and the specific skill requirements withinoccupational groups. She received her M.A. degree in Applied Quantitative Research at New York University and her LL.B. degree in Sociology at Xiamen University.
