Dr. Ashwin Thangali Wins an Award at Scholars Day
In addition to Ashwin’s successful Ph.D. Thesis Defense yesterday, his poster at Scholars Day was also prize-worthy: he won the “Hariri Award for Innovative Computing Models, Algorithms, and Systems Research”. The poster is entitled “Exploiting Phonological Constraints for Handshape Recognition in Sign Language Video.” Congratulations twice over, Ashwin!
Graduate students’ research on the Charles River and Medical campuses were honored and displayed at the university-wide SCHOLARS DAY (formerly known as the Science and Engineering Research Symposium). The best presentations received honoraria, with matching awards to the recipients’ respective advisors.
