| Position Summary: | The Information Technology Department of the Marine Biological Laboratory is seeking candidates for the Network Services Supervisor position. This position will be responsible for the MBL’s computer network and telephone systems, as well as supervisor for support staff. |
| Additional Information: | The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Install, configure, and support The Marine Biological Laboratory’s local area network, wide area network, wireless network, and telephone system. Maintain network hardware and software. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures. Supervise technical support specialists and temporary support staff. Some after hours and on-call work is required. |
| Basic Qualifications: | Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science (or equivalent experience) and 5 years professional experience working in the field of Information Technology. • In-depth knowledge of enterprise class networking (LAN, WAN, wireless) • Experience with enterprise class firewalls • Experience with information security tools, procedures and processes • Knowledge of network protocols and file systems: TCP/IP, SNMP, NFS, SMB, SMTP, DHCP & DNS • Experience with structure cabling design and installation • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems and network operations systems in use at the MBL, including Windows, Linux, Mac. • Experience with Active Directory • Experience maintaining and supporting an enterprise telephone system (PBX) • Knowledge of project planning and management • Supervisory skills including hiring and performance appraisal • Interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills • Ability to develop technical Request For Proposals (RFP’s) |
| Preferred Qualifications: | Experience with Enterasys/Extreme Networks and Avaya telephone equipment is preferred. |
| Physical Requirements: | Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., work in tight spaces, and climb ladders. |
