Research Assistant Position in MRI/PET Available Immediately
The Translational Research Center for TBI and Stress Disorders (TRACTS) at VA Boston Healthcare invites applications for a research assistant position in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of brain structure and function (diffusion tensor imaging; arterial spin labeling perfusion; functional connectivity) and positron emission tomography (PET) of dopamine receptor mapping in individuals with a history of binge drinking. The research assistant position will involve supporting several aspects of the study including (but not limited to) participant enrollment, characterization, and testing, operation of the MRI and PET scanners, data management, organization, processing and analysis.
Individuals with training in computer science, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, psychology, or related fields are welcome. Individuals with prior experience in brain imaging research and use of brain imaging software (FSL/Freesurfer/AFNI/SPM) preferred. It is additionally expected that the individual will devote time to training to learn image processing and analysis procedures while in this position. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Unix/Linux operating systems, MATLAB, shell scripting, some knowledge of statistics, and some prior experience in brain imaging research. This position requires a minimum of a two year commitment (with opportunity for a longer position), and is available beginning immediately. Salary will be consistent with levels in accordance with the Boston VA Medical Center policies for research assistants. Compensation includes full staff benefits, including health insurance, and vacation time.
