The Women of the Channel Conference would like to invite young woman attending Boston University to participate in a special career-pursuits workshop focused on careers in the IT and high-tech industry. The workshop will take place Dec. 4, 2017, in NYC as part of a conference that will attract more than 600 established and future leaders. There is an opportunity to meet with the largest high tech firms, fast growing midsize and entrepreneurial firms.
The workshop is designed for women in college who want to gain a better understanding of a career path in the high tech and information technology industry. We are seeking young women studying STEM, business or other subjects that could be applied to technical or business-oriented jobs in the IT industry.
The content will feature education from high-tech leaders designed specifically for young women interested in technical and business-oriented positions along with advice and insight from leaders at some of the world’s most innovative IT companies—large and small. Our content partners include executives from Women in the Channel and CEO of The NPD Group.
Students who attend the New York workshop will also have the opportunity to gain access to a mentor. These mentors are women from the WotC Board or from our working committees. All of them are accomplished executives or those rising rapidly through their organizations. Companies include the likes of Google, Microsoft, Intel, Verizon, Dell EMC, Optiv, HPE, Red Hat, Cisco and many more.
There are a limited number of seats available. Here is some important information about the event.
- This pre-event workshop is designed to help women in college identify opportunities in the booming tech industry. There will be a $25 refundable fee per student attendee. The fee is designed to hold their seat the workshop.
- High-tech companies will be seeking to fill open positions along with internships.
- The WotC Career Pursuits Workshop will cover a wide range of issues, including opportunities in the IT services and high-tech industries, the importance of internship, landing that first job, and how to build a network of supportive professional women.
- The content is also designed to help young women tailor their education to enter the world of IT and prepare them to climb the ladder of success.
- Established and emerging leaders in high-tech will come together to share their wisdom on the potential paths, hurdles and opportunities that await students.
- This workshop will feature a promising group of young women from the New York metro area with the goal of inspiring them to pursue not only technical jobs, but roles in sales, marketing, customer support, IT services and partner management.
- Speakers: Senior leaders from IT and high tech industry in such roles as sales, marketing, product management, partner/alliance management, product development and corporate leadership.
