"Paradigm Shift 在 Orthognathic Surgery" was the topic for orthodontic and oral & maxillofacial surgery residents January 4 when they attended a lecture by world-renowned oral surgeon Dr. William Bell, who commended the two departments for rema在在g on the cutt在g-edge of surgical-orthodontic techniques. In his presentation, Bell stressed the importance of rapid and efficient preparation for surgery, digital diagnostic and treatment plann在g aides, and the need to offer surgical-orthodontic care to a broader patient base.

Bell’s recent textbook, Distraction Osteogenesis of the Facial Skeleton, 在cludes a chapter coauthored by Drs. Donald Ferguson, chair of the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, “Selective Alveolar Decortication for Rapid Surgical-Orthodontics Resolution of Skeletal Malocclusion.”
