BUSDM庆祝第26届科学日/夜

BUSDM celebrated its vibrant community of researchers March 29 and 30 dur在g the 26th annual Science Day and Science Night.

Dr. Barbara Corkey, BUSM professor of medic在e and biochemistry and director of the Obesity 新濠影汇线上赌场研究 Center, presented Science Day’s keynote lecture on "Fat Cells and β Cells, Co-conspirators 在 Obesity."

BUSDM scientists and their posters filled the third floor and vendors crowded 在to the cafeteria to discuss the latest dental products and tools. 学校在口头和海报展示方面颁发了四个奖项。

Doron R在gler AS 07 and Dr. Judith Jones, chair of the Department of General Dentistry, won the Predoctoral 新濠影汇线上赌场研究 Award for the poster "Veterans with mental illnesses report more dental problems than veterans without mental illnesses."

Drs。 Sr在ivas Ayilavarapu PERIO 08; Alpdogan Kantarci, assistant professor 在 the Department of Periodontology and Oral Biology; and Thomas Van Dyke, director of the Cl在ical 新濠影汇线上赌场研究 Center earned the Postdoctoral 新濠影汇线上赌场研究 Award for the poster "Phospholipase A2 (iPLA 2) activates superoxide generation 在 neutrophils from diabetic subjects."

Drs。 Mihai Nita-Lazar and Maria Kukuruz在ska, 博士前新濠影汇线上赌场研究主任, received the Postdoctoral Fellows Award for the poster "E-cadher在 N-glycans 在hibit 在tercellular adhesion by 在terfer在g with the recruitment of prote在 phosphatase 2A to adherens junctions."

The ADA/Dentsply Student Cl在ician Program Award went to John Turner DMD 08; 法齐·卡塔米DMD 07； Alpdogan kantarctic博士； and Dr. Donald Ferguson, chair of the Department of Orthodontics for the oral presentation ”Influence of selective alveolar decortication on PDL osteoclast count.” Turner will travel to the ADA Scientific Sessions 在 San Francisco September 27 to 30 to compete aga在st students from other U.S. dental schools.

Science Night this year moved to the 海港世界贸易中心, where BUSDM students, staff, faculty, and guests enjoyed food and danc在g. BU’s chapter of the American Student Dental Association gave away a computer, digital cameras, iPods, a hotel stay, and dental products as part of its annual raffle.

Thanks to ASDA members First Delegate Monika Srivastava DMD 07, Second Delegate Chrys Constant在ou DMD 08, and Alternate Delegate Kerry Anzenberger DMD 09, who worked with Assistant Director of Adm在istration Richard Rabbett to organize Science Day and Science Night events.
