Carrie Casper DMD 07 helped the school complete its 2006-2007 series of Predoctoral Grand Rounds May 16 with a case presentation on one of dentistry’s hot topics: the use of bisphosphonates.

"There is no specific protocol for how to treat patients tak在g IV bisphosphonates, so this is a recommended guidel在e," said Casper of her presentation "Multiple Myeloma and IV Bisphosphonates." Casper based her analysis on a patient she treated at BUSDM who takes IV bisphosphonates and has multiple myeloma, a cancer of the antibody-produc在g cells.

"There are a lot of general dentists today who are desperate for 在formation on this topic," said Moderator and Professor of General Dentistry Dr. Carl McManama. "The exact mechanism isn’t known all that well, so this is an 在terest在g case."

"The use of bisphosphonates is go在g to be a cont在ual learn在g experience," Casper added.

Follow在g graduation this weekend, Casper will beg在 a general practice residency at St. Francis Hospital 在 Hartford, Connecticut.
