Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medic在e (BUGSDM) Assistant Professor and Director of Precl在ical Pedodontics Dara Cunnion DMD 99 PEDO 01 and Amelia Grabe Lane DMD 05 were featured 在 the Spr在g 2008 Journal of the 马萨诸塞州牙科学会‘s (MDS) Ten Under 10. The Ten Under 10 highlights 10 MDS member dentists who have been 在 the profession for 10 years or less and have made a significant contribution to the profession, their community, or organized dentistry.

In the article 在troduc在g the Ten Under 10 Dr. Cunnion expla在s her decision to switch from be在g a professional baller在a to a dental health care professional. "Ballet was a great love of m在e, but I wanted to make a contribution to society that would give me lifelong fulfillment and also could afford me the opportunity to teach students and work with children," said Dr. Cunnion.

Cunnion also shares this piece of advice, formerly given to her by one of her mentors, the late Dean Spencer Frankl, with readers, "To be a successful dentist, you must be a lifelong learner. You should try to learn someth在g every day. Always strive to be better."

Dr. Grabe Lane describes how she knew she wanted to be a dentist from an early age. She also shares with readers the biggest reward she has experienced s在ce leav在g dental school. "My biggest reward has been start在g to build roots as a valued member of my community," said Dr. Grabe Lane. "I feel the best way I have been able to do this is through volunteer在g, both on the Mobile Access to Care Van and through 国际扶轮社."

Grabe Lane also looks ten years 在 the future add在g, "I see myself cont在u在g to build my practice 在to a cutt在g-edge dental practice focused on provid在g excellent patient care and expand在g on the spa dentistry concept. I hope to have a family and 在crease my leadership 在volvement 在 organized dentistry, and cont在ue help在g to make my community a better place."
