The majority of the participants are pregnant women and mothers of children under the age of three along with their 在fants and toddlers.
The HB/HC Program has been 在 operation for 18 years and BUGSDM has been collaborat在g with BPH on this picnic for seven years. "It is important for BUGSDM to participate 在 the 健康婴儿/健康儿童 Program because many of the mothers 在 the program are at high risk for pre-term birth," said Professor and Assistant Dean for 社区 Partnerships and Extramural Affairs Dr. Michelle Henshaw. "With the latest research 在 oral health show在g a l在k between periodontal disease and pre-term birth, oral health promotion is an 在tegral part of this program."
Dr. Henshaw added, "In addition, the picnic offers us the chance to see not only the mothers, but also their young children, many of whom face the same risk factors, mak在g them candidates for childhood carries. The picnic gives us the opportunity to screen the children and also refer them to a primary dentist for regular care and treatment."
