On December 14, 2015, approximately 50 members of the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) community joined the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity at the Boston University Castle for a special continuing education lecture by Mr. Ryan Hollenbeck, 3D & CAD/CAM Specialist at Sirona Dental Systems.

Mr. Hollenbeck’s lecture on December 14 provided attendees with a detailed overview of 3D imaging and clinical implications in dental implants. The lecture took place at 8:30 p.m. It was preceded by a cocktail reception and a catered dinner.

Several GSDM faculty, students, and staff attended the event, as well as many members of the dental community in and around the Greater Boston area.

Founded in 1907, Alpha Omega is one of the oldest international dental fraternities in the world. It is the oldest international Jewish medical organization in the world. The Alpha Omega community is currently comprised of more than 100 alumni and student chapters in ten different countries. Alpha Omega is active in the dental community in several ways, including conventions, seminars, and charitable projects.

During the evening, attendees were also introduced to the Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program, which is a pilot three-year initiative that seeks to provide free dental care to Holocaust survivors across nine North American metropolitan areas.

“I would like to thank Dean Hutter for his continuous support of Alpha Omega,” said Dr. David Dano, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of General Dentistry and Practice Leader in the Pre-doctoral Patient Treatment Center. “The event was an outstanding evening of professionalism and camaraderie.”

He continued, “I invite all our students, faculty, and staff to join us for future Alpha Omega events and to support in any way they can help the Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program.”

Dean Hutter remarked, “I would like to extend my appreciation to Dr. Dano, Alpha Omega, and, Sirona Dental Systems for coordinating such a wonderful event and very informative lecture by Mr. Ryan Hollenbeck.”
