Dr. Thomas Van Dyke Shares Research with National and International Audiences

Professor and Director of the Center for Clinical Research Dr. Thomas Van Dyke recently presented two lectures. The first was on October 21 at the Donald E. Knapp Memorial Lecture held at the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Dentistry and was titled, "Management of Inflammation in Periodontal Disease." The audience for this lecture was comprised of UK College of Dentistry faculty, staff, students, and Dr. Knapp’s family.

The second lecture, presented the first week of November, was titled, "Management of Inflammation in Periodontal Disease; Relationship to Systemic Disease." He presented this lecture at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ / King’s College London Biomedical Forum. This Forum was attended by basic scientists, clinicians, and allied healthcare professionals, ranging from students to world-leading clinicians and scientists. These Forums are held monthly and are an important part of the BRC, as they provide researchers and clinicians an unique opportunity to showcase translation in biomedical and clinical research.

Dr. Van Dyke was honored to lecture at both of these events adding, "I find it very exciting that the concepts of resolution of inflammation are gaining international recognition and that the potential impact on treatment of infectious diseases seems to have attracted the attention of scientists worldwide."

"It is wonderful to see Dr. Van Dyke’s research recognized by the organizers of these prestigious national and international events," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter.
