Staff Meets the Candidates

sf candidates

The Election Commission of the Staff Forum hosted the first of two lunch events on February 28, which allowed staff in attendance to hear, straight from the eight candidates, why they were running for Representative of the newly-established Staff Forum, and what makes them a good candidate. For those unable to attend, a second, similar lunch event will be held on March 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. in room G-302.

Candidates fall into three categories: Research, Administrative, and Clinical. Staff members are only allowed to vote for one Representative in one category of their choosing. So for example, if you are an administrative staff member you can vote for an Administrative Representative or if you work closely with clinical staff you could instead vote for a Clinical Representative.

After the ballots are tallied the person with the most votes in each category will become the Representative and the person with the second-most votes will be named an Alternate. One Representative from the Staff Forum will sit on the Executive Committee, with each category’s Representative serving an eight-month term. During their eight-month term on the Executive Committee, if the Representative cannot make a meeting their Alternate will fill in. In two years the Representatives will have completed their terms of service, Alternates will advance to Representatives, and another election will be held to determine the new Alternates in each category.

Candidates are as follows:

Research: Operations Manager Barbara Pyke and Research and Grant Manager LaKeisha M. Gandy

Administrative: 6th Floor Clinical Administrative Supervisor Andrea Sarkis, Audiovisual Technician Janet Huh, and 2nd Floor Patient Coordinator Maria Alves

Clinical: Dental Assistant Sarah A. Irias, Dental Hygienist Kenneisha Storach, and Clinical Coordinator Carina Pina

Staff Forum Representative Elections will be held on March 13 and 14. More detailed information on each candidate is available here.
