Department of Pediatric Dentistry Holds Graduation Dinner

A total of 55 people attended a dinner recognizing graduating residents of the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Advanced Specialty Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in the Metcalf Trustee Ballroom.
The 2016 Pediatric Dentistry graduates are: Gursimran Ahluwalia; Maria Al Ismail; Stephanie Altongy; Anna Azar; Lily Kim; Arif Mamdani; Rachel Rosen; Irwine Sainvil; Tiffany Wu;
The evening’s program consisted of a cocktail hour followed by the presentation of certificates to the graduates as well as remarks from several people who are instrumental in the Pediatric Dentistry program at GSDM.
Speakers were Dr. Athanasios Zavras, Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatric Dentistry; Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter; Dr. Wendy Cheney, Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry; Dr. Magnolia Venegas, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, and Director of the Post-doctoral Pediatric Dentistry Patient Treatment Center at Boston Medical Center (BMC); Yolanda Cruz, Dental Assistant Supervisor at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center; and Keena Banda, Office Manager at Franciscan Children’s.
Dr. Porsche Jumlongras, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, was especially excited to congratulate the 2016 graduates. Dr. Jumlongras started in her role at GSDM just three weeks before the dinner celebration, on June 1, 2016.
Former Clinical Director for the Friday afternoon pediatric clinical rotation at GSDM, Dr. Michael Posada, who recently moved to Texas and was not able to attend, was missed at the dinner celebration. Dr. Posada is certainly appreciated for all of his contributions to GSDM during his one year at in the Pediatric Dentistry Department.
