Throughout the Camp Terrier/Dance Arts program, one of the highlights of our campers’ week was their Aerial Dance class. Campers would hurry through lunch and line up eagerly at the door, brimming with energy to run down to the gym and start class. Entering the space, the campers were immediately stunned by the twenty feet long silks hanging from the ceiling. They would run and jump onto the giant cushy mats below the silks in a fit of giggles. During the classes, the aerial instructors created an environment that allowed the children to explore new movement while maintaining safe practices. At first, the campers approached the silks with apprehension and worry, but, as the class progressed, you could see their confidence grow as they embraced this new experience.

Due to popular demand, we are bringing back Youth Aerial Dance classes during the year! The classes will be full of fun and movement for your kids with our new instructor, Molly Rainis. Molly is an award-winning Silks Aerialist having trained, choreographed, and taught at Florida Aerial Dance and Circus Arts. The multi-week classes are designed to work with each child’s individual skill level and interest to build confidence and self-esteem. They’ll also build your child’s strength and flexibility. Working primarily with aerial silks suspended from the ceiling, students will explore how to swing, climb, hang and wrap to create beautiful poses and fun sequences.

Youth Aerial Dance is for ages 7 – 11 on Saturday afternoons. There are two sessions: September 14 to October 5, and October 19 to November 16. You can get more info here!
