“ Population Displacement following Extreme Weather Events”
November 9, 2012
Time: 12pm-1pm
Location: Room L-210
BU Medical School Instructional Building
Speaker
Monica Onyango, RN, PhD, MPH
Clinical Assistant Professor of International Health
Consequences of extreme weather events or disasters are increasingly common and more devastating to populations and their property. The effects of natural disasters are more devastating to communities in developing countries where response systems are not well developed, and in certain situations, non-existent. Many of the populations affected by disasters survive because of assistance brought to them by local and international humanitarian agencies. This session will discuss practical ways to respond and intervene.
