The Hariri Institute is excited to host the JP Morgan Machine Learning Presentation at BU. Coordinated by Assistant Professor of Mathematics & Statistics Kostas Spiliopoulos, the event is open to students in fields such as, but not limited to, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, physics, chemistry, finance and any interdisciplinary combinations of these.

Talk Title: Machine Learning at JPMorgan Chase: Applications in NLP, Speech Recognition, and Time Series

Description of Presentation: Data has become one of the greatest assets a company can have. At JPMorgan Chase, there is a need to develop in-house solutions in order to retain the intelligence we garner from our data. This allows us to adapt models easily to changing data, and significantly lowers our cost and dependence on external providers. This talk will discuss aspects of applications in finance to which our team has applied machine learning.

Purpose of Presentation: As quantitative researchers and data scientists at JPMorgan Chase we would like to generate interest in a range of topics we are working on, that have the potential to improve the efficiency of our production processes, the accuracy and cost structures of our risk management, and in general applications of principled data analysis for the varied needs of a large multinational company in the financial industry. Specifically, we would like to advertise to graduate students
or postdocs interested in exploring internship opportunities with our machine learning summer program.  More generally, we are hoping to establish common subjects with researchers in academia and open paths for the exchange of ideas and collaboration.

Internship Program: Graduate students and post-docs potentially interested in the machine learning internship program are encouraged to bring their printed resumes or be ready to provide a soft copy by email.  In addition, they can apply for the program before or after the presentation at the following link: https://careers.jpmorgan.com/careers/programs/qr-summer-associate
