Reuters recently published Professor Bruce Schulman’s op-ed, an analysis of the rival claims of different parties to a mandate in the wake of the 2012 election.  In particular, he finds some strange, and strangely suggestive antecedents for the claims to a separate mandate by Speaker John Boehner and the House Republicans.
