Panel to Discuss BU’s First Major Action Toward Carbon Free Emissions
BU Energy Club is excited to host a panel on Tuesday, October 23 at 5:00 pm regarding Boston University’s recently announced power purchase agreement with ENGIE North America to supply BU’s electricity from wind power starting in 2020. This agreement is part of the University’s Climate Action Plan, which puts the university on a path to zero net carbon emissions by 2040. We invite students, the larger BU community and the general public to join us for a brief presentation from representatives of ENGIE North America, Edison Energy and Sustainability@BU followed by a panel discussion moderated by Energy Club’s Jonathan DiCesare, MBA class of 2020.
Power Purchase Agreements are a common tool for large purchasers of electricity like BU to obtain electricity from zero-carbon sources like wind and solar. This recent announcement is one of the first major actions taken to reach the “BU Bold”, Climate Action Plan (CAP) first approved by University Trustees last December. Sustainability@BU‘s Dennis Carlberg was one of the primary authors of the CAP and he will join our panel to discuss the impact this PPA will have on the University and answer student-submitted questions. We hope this event will enlighten the BU community on this important step toward carbon neutrality for the University.
The event will be held at the Questrom School of Business at Boston University. Join the BU Energy Club to learn more about this agreement and the world of energy procurement.
