ISE Researchers Present on Economics Topics at ASSA Annual Meeting
ISE-affiliated (now the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability, IGS) researchers and faculty joined economists from around the world to present at this year’s Allied Social Science Associations (ASSA) annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, January 4-6, 2019. Robert Metcalfe, Jennifer Hatch, and Robert Kleinberg represented Boston University and the Institute for Sustainable Energy during the three-day conference.
Jennifer Hatch, ISE Research Fellow, participated in a Transportation and Public Utilities Group panel. Speaking to a group of utility experts and academics, she discussed the findings of the recent Energy Policy Paper Long-term U.S transportation electricity use considering the effect of autonomous-vehicles: Estimates & policy observation.
Robert Kleinberg, IGS Senior Fellow, presented his paper on business cycles and innovation cycles in the upstream oil and gas industry as part of a panel discussing economic dependencies in energy systems.
Robert Metcalfe, Assistant Professor in Markets, Public Policy and Law at BU’s Questrom School of Business, discussed the economics of altruism based on his behavioral economics research conducted with Opower, an energy efficiency company.
