IoC Executive Director Katharine Lusk Participates in White House Summit
On June 23rd, IOC Executive Director, Katharine Lusk, participated in the White House Summit on Working Families. The one day summit was designed to highlight policy interventions that provide better supports to working women and families, as well as innovative remedies cities and states have deployed in the absence of federal action. Speakers and workshops placed particular emphasis on expanding access to childcare and pre-K programs, remedying the gender wage gap and improving access to paid family leave. Katharine participated in workshops devoted to pay equity and the representation of women and girls in STEM fields.
President Obama, Vice President Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden were among the speakers. The event was co-hosted by the Center for American Progress and the U.S. Department of Labor.
