BU faculty and grad student speak on Holocaust related themes at the AJS in D.C.
Ingrid Anderson, PhD student in the Division of Religious and Theological Studies joined Prof. Abigail Gillman (MLCL) and Prof. Nancy Harrowitz (Romance Studies) as presenters at the 2011 annual meeting of the Association for Jewish Studies in Washington, DC. Ingrid’s work on the possibility of an ethics after Auschwitz, dealing with the thought of Levinas, Rubenstein and Elie Wiesel, was featured on a panel on Levinas and Social Justice. Prof. Gillman spoke on Martin Buber’s “dialogue with postwar Germany” as part of a group of “post-holocaust narratives, strategies, and negotiations.” Prof. Harrowitz participated in a late night panel on the use of film in the classroom, especially classes related to the Holocaust.
