Faculty Services

Course Materials (Reserves)

Faculty may place materials on reserve for the use of students enrolled in their classes. Material placed on reserve is most often digital, or made available online in full text, or else is shelved behind the circulation desk. Items from the BU Libraries locations, as well as personal copies of such material as books, DVDs, syllabi, lecture notes, articles, or sample exams may be designated for reserve.

Please read more about our Course Reserve service.

Class Instruction

The Pickering Educational Resources Library offers librarian-led instruction for classes to faculty and to students that support faculty teaching. Such instruction normally covers the use of electronic resources and can be tailored to your group. Collaborative projects provide opportunities for the librarian to work with faculty to infuse information literacy into their curricula.

Consultations for individuals and small groups engaged in research are available as well. Please contact Dan Benedetti, the Head of Pickering Educational Resources Library, to schedule a session.

Class and Meeting Spaces

The Pickering Educational Resources Library has one area that can be scheduled for use by faculty members: our classroom. This room is a useful instruction space, where a podium has a connection to our projector, and the room can accommodate seating for up to 25 persons.

Research and Reference Services

The Education librarian is available to help identify relevant databases, web sources, journals, catalogs and other research material. The librarian can also help you and your research assistants locate and procure relevant books, articles, and reports through our interlibrary borrowing services. Please contact Pickering Educational Resources Library at picklib@bu.edu or 617-353-3735.

For details on the MyPrint system please refer to the TechWeb (IS&T) documentation.
