Pardee Summer Fellow Wins Fulbright-Hays Research Grant

chloe-edit2011 Pardee Summer Graduate Fellow M. Chloe Mulderig has won a grant under the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad program, which this year includes additional support from the Andrew Mellon Foundation. Mulderig is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Boston University whose work focuses on youth, gender, piety, and the creation of identity in Morocco and the greater Muslim world. The grant award will fund her field research in Morocco that examines how young women in Fes negotiate changing norms about gender roles and gendered interactions within their society. Her work will help American audiences to better understand the complex lives of youth in the Arab world as they face longer-term uncertainty and political unrest.
