Faculty Fellow Susan Eckstein was interviewed in the Boston Globe’s Ideas section on July 28th, 2013 about How Immigrants Impact Their Homelands a book she edited with former Pardee Director Adil Najam. This book is the outcome of a Pardee Center Research Project, Diasporas and Development, and is a collection of writing by experts from a variety of disciplines on the issues relating to the impact diasporas have on the society in their county of origin. In the interview Prof. Eckstein discusses the dynamics of wealth in Cuba, family dynamics in the Philippines, and even the role deportation has played in creating trans-Atlantic gangs.
