Prof. Adil Najam, the Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and Professor of International Relations and of Geography and Environment at Boston University was honored by the Houston-based Alliance for Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) at their Annual “Stars Among Us” Gala event celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Alliance.

The AMCS’s provides comprehensive services to refugees, immigrants and low-income residents in order to enhance the process of their cultural adjustment into the United States and economic self-sufficiency. The Annual “Stars Among Us” Gala is the group’s annual event which honors outstanding first or second generation refugees or immigrants living in the United States and also serves as a fundraiser to support scholarships for refugee students at the secondary school and collegiate levels.

Prof. Najam was honored by the AMCS for his contribution “to the Long-Range Health of the Environment and Peace in the World.” A certificate of special Congressional Recognition was also presented to Dr. Adil Najam on behalf of the Representative Al Green, Congressman for the Ninth Congressional District of Texas. The very first honoree to be so recognized by the AMCS was basketball legend Hakeem Olajuwan (1999).
