Pardee Center Director Speaks at Life Sciences Conference

Prof. Adil Najam, Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and Professor of International Relations and Geography and Environment at Boston University was invited to give a plenary presentation at the 2010 Massachusetts Life Sciences Innovation Day (MALSI 2010). The theme of this year’s event was “The Future of Life Sciences.” The event was hosted by the Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center and MassBio-The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council.

The welcome address was given by the Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray, and conference speakers and participants included leaders of life sciences, especially health sciences, companies from Massachusetts.

Prof. Najam’s speech focussed on the link between global environmental challenges and life sciences. He emphasized the importance of looking at life sciences in a holistic framework and to keep the development dimensions of emerging global challenges in focus.
