Pardee Center Visiting Fellow Pablo Suarez gave a presentation before the U.S. Congress’ Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming on Tuesday, July 22. During the briefing on global health and climate change at the Capitol building, Suarez discussed the humanitarian dimensions of the climate crisis based on his experiences working with Oxfam America and the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre. He told Committee members about the important lessons learned from fieldwork with vulnerable communities in developing countries, as well as the need for policy measures that address the immediate and longer- range consequences of a changing climate. He was one of three experts invited to address the Congressional committee. The event was co-sponsored by the Congressional Global Health Caucus.

Pablo Suarez is a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Geography and Environment at Boston University and a Guest Scholar with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.
