Lectures in Criticism: Specters of Uneven Development
Please join us for the first Lectures in Criticism event of the new year!
Pedro Erber will give a lecture entitled, “Specters of Uneven Development: Brazilian Anthropophagy and the Kyoto School.“
The talk will be held in CILSE 101 on February 14th at 5 pm.
Focusing on Brazil’s anthropophagic movement of the 1920s and on the Kyoto School’s cultural discourse of the interwar years around the notion of “overcoming modernity,” Professor Erber’s presentation turns to the archives of the early 20th century’s peripheral modernity in search of new paths for a critical reflection on the question of belatedness and elements to theorize the chronopolitics of the contemporary world.
