Mathieu Earns Diplôme
In June, Lionel Mathieu was awarded the Diplôme de didactique du français sur objectifs spécifiques (DDIFOS) with honors, by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris (CCIP). This diploma was delivered based on a year-long dossier developing a course in professional French, which Lionel is teaching this fall semester (LF310 – French for International Relations), and again in the spring 2021.
Lionel tells us:
“This work has also led to making connections with the Consulate General of France in Boston, and I just had one of their Education Officers Zoom in to my LF 310 class today to talk about his line of work at a diplomatic post. Students were able to interact and ask him questions, all in French, to enhance their understanding of professional life in the domain of international relations.
I’m now in the process of possibly getting accreditation from the CCIP for the Romance Studies Department to become an official testing center in order to proctor examinations leading to the Diplôme de Français Professionnel (Diploma in French for Professions). These diplomas are internationally recognized, thus enabling students (and others) to certify an ability to work in French in a given job sector. Lionel Mathieu is a lecturer in French at the Romance Studies Department.
