Tournées Concludes First Virtual Festival

The restrictions on in-person gatherings mandated by the Covid epidemic meant that our annual Tournées French Film Festival could not be held in its normal format this year. But the festival organizers were undaunted and organized a virtual festival instead!

Festival organizers Kelly Keenan and Tiffany Bailey were pleased with the success of the festival, telling us:

“We were thrilled to bring these six wonderful French films to campus this semester! Although we could not meet in person, the BU community was able to come together and bond over French and Francophone culture via virtual group screenings, talks and round tables, and social media engagement. Turn out for each film was outstanding and we are happy our festival reached such a large audience. We are looking forward to next year’s festival – whether it will be in person or virtual!”

The six films shown for this year’s festival were:

  • Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Céline Sciamma, 2019)
  • Fire Will Come (Oliver Laxe, 2019)
  • Varda by Agnès (Agnès Varda, 2019)
  • Sibyl (Justin Triet, 2019)
  • Hyenes (Djibril Diop Mambéty, 1992)
  • On a Magical Night (Christophe Honoré, 2019)
