Bryzys Wins Translation Prize
Wiktoria Bryzys, a student in our doctoral program in Hispanic Language & Literature, has won first place for a verse translation in the 2022 Robert Fitzgerald Prize in Literary Translation, for the translation of selected poems by the Polish poet Halina Poswiatowska.
The judges of the competition praised her work, saying “The first-person voice in Poświatowska’s poignant poems comes out forcefully in these beautiful translations, which are vignettes of the poet’s interaction with family, animals, and nature, evoking a range of emotions.”
Congratulations, Wiktoria!
