RS Student Wins Latin America Essay Prize
David Shames, doctoral student in Hispanic Language & Literatures, has won first place for the graduate student category in the Latin American Studies Essay Contest sponsored by BU’s Center for Latin American Studies. David won for his paper titled “Seeing the City: Intellectuals & Visual Media in 1920s Mexico City.” Great work, David!
Braden Clinger, also a doctoral student in our Hispanic Language & Literatures program, tied for third place with his essay, “‘Mi Gauchito Gil’: Musical Reflections on a Folk Saint.”
Several other Romance Studies graduate students received honorable mention designations for their submissions: Edgardo Tormos, José Luis Nogales, and Karina Sembe.
