LS 308 Dueling Film Creations
Students in two of the LS 308 classes this spring (Spanish through Film & New Media) experienced a special component to their coursework!
Saraí García Santos and Molly Monet-Viera, who each taught a section of LS 308 this term, held a film competition for the students of their two sections. The students created short films, film posters, or film trailers.
The instructors invited three judges to evaluate their work: Amina Shabani and two former 308 students who are film students in the College of Communication. Awards were given for the winners of the popular vote and the jury’s picks. Winners were announced to the students in a zoom ceremony.
The winners for best short film were: “La fecha de entrega” by Maddie Harris and “¿Cuántas veces? by Garrett Pahl.
The best trailers were “Tingle” by David Ansaldi and “Donde termina la playa” by Maggie Vatter and Jennifer Ortiz.
The winners for best posters were Heather Pump and Aidan Kaminer for “La casa de Asterión” and Carmen Chaung and Karen Martinez for “Retablo” .
