Romance Studies Organizes 4th Disabilities & 2nd Language Learning Conference

On February 25 and 26, BU Romance Studies hosted our fourth annual Disabilities & Second Language Learning conference.

From the conference organizers:

This is the fourth year we have hosted this conference. We started it as a small event, two years ago we opened a call for proposals, last year it became an international event and this year we could not be happier with the program we had for those two days! Again we celebrated an international event from MA to Brazil, to Germany, to Spain, even to Qatar. We had presenters that have been with us the four editions (Lorre Wolf) or the three editions (Wade Edwards from Longwood College) or two editions Joanna Pfingsthorn & Ana Rovai from the University of Bremen, Germany.

The event was very well received by the educational community. We had a total of 77 participants each day from BU, other Colleges, and public schools. Also, this year we created a website to better manage the event https://sites-staging.bu.edu/sll-disabilities-conference/

Some of the comments we received were:

“I loved the practical ideas of how to improve the classes and make them as accessible as possible to the students every day.”

“A chance to talk with others around the world who interested in teaching students with disabilities and who share good ideas. It’s also validating to see that others approach a problem in a similar way. This is a very affirming community.”
