Garcia Researches in Anita Brenner Papers

Image from Anita Brenner ArchivesSarai Garcia, a sixth-year doctoral student in our Hispanic Language & Literatures program, visited the Anita Brenner Papers at the Harry Ransom Center at UT Austin, TX. She spent two weeks reviewing one of the collections related to Anita Brenner, composed of 141 boxes. The Brenner archives contain manuscripts from several of her award-winning children’s books, photographs, books, and correspondence with the most prominent intellectuals of Mexico and the USA (such as Hannah Arendt, Lucienne Bloch, Diego Rivera, Luz JimĂ©nez, and Jean Charlot), as well as her editorial and journalistic work in Mexico and USA. Having the opportunity to examine this archive will allow Sarai’s dissertation to map with more clarity the relationships of Brenner’s work as a true cultural promoter between Mexico and the USA during the twentieth century. Without question, this archival material will provide inestimable information for future academic works around the captivating work of Anita Brenner.
