India
In a country that is home to the world’s second largest population, Sargent students and professors traveled to India to take a closer look at the access to healthcare for people with disabilities and people in rural areas. After spending a few days in India’s bustling capital adjusting to a new environment the students traveled to Dehradun to work with the Latika Roy Foundation, a collaborative group of local organizations working in the Disability sector. They continued to explore rural healthcare access by hearing from practitioners at Uttarachal Ayurvenda College and Hospital.
Not only did they enjoy the sites and cuisine India had to offer them, the students learned about the importance of access to healthcare and how Indian culture, politics, and economics relate to public health issues.
