Janine AnzalotaBoston Mayor Marty Walsh has appointed Janine Anzalota (’06) director of the Mayor’s Office of Fair Housing & Equity for the City of Boston.

“My goal is to bring public health and fair housing perspectives together,” Anzalota says. “Fair housing is public health work.”

Anzalota has served as interim director for the department since July. She joined the City of Boston as a senior program manager with the Boston Public Health Commission in 2007, after working as a social worker with Boston Medical Center.

In 2011, Anzalota received both the Boston Public Health Commission’s Emerging Young Leader Award and the National Association of County and City Health Official’s Award for Model Practice. Over the last decade she has contributed a broad array of scholarly analysis on racial justice in health and community engagement.

Anzalota holds both an MPH and an MSW from BU.
