Kristian ClausenSchool of Public Health faculty and staff community members are being honored by Boston University for their service.

Kristian Clausen will receive the BU Graduate Outstanding Service Award at an event on April 14.

Assistant Professor of Community Health Sciences Monica Wang nominated Clausen for her work as Wang’s teaching assistant in SB800: The Obesity Epidemic, and as her research assistant in a novel intervention program to reduce children’s sugar-sweetened beverage consumption and increase media literacy. The BU Student Employment Office sponsors awards to recognize the outstanding achievements of student workers and highlight the impact students make on the campus workforce.

“It’s definitely nice to be recognized,” Clausen says. “I’ve had a great experience working with Monica, and I’ve learned so much from her.”

At a luncheon on March 31, BU also honored faculty and staff who have reached service milestones of 10 and 25 years at the University.

Among those completing 25 years was Chris Paal, who recently transitioned from director of professional and academic services at SPH to her new role as BU Assistant Vice President and Registrar.

Faculty and staff honored for 10 years of service included:

Edith Ablavsky, communications specialist for the Health and Disability Working Group

Jennifer Beard, assistant professor of global health

Clara Chen, assistant director of operations for the Data Coordinating Center

Sharon Coleman, research manager for the Data Coordinating Center

Tasha Coughlin, data coordinator for the Data Coordinating Center

Gheorghe Doros, associate professor of biostatistics

Stephanie Ettinger de Cuba, project director for the Data Coordinating Center
