Lundgren Appointed to National Expert Panel on Substance Abuse & Mental Health
Professor Lena Lundgren will soon provide insight and guidance to national policies on substance abuse and mental health. Dr. Lundgren was recently appointed to the Expert Panel for the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS Services Program. The expert panel will provide guidance on a national cross-site evaluation, and develop recommendations for a working definition of health disparities to help guide and inform the cross-site evaluation.
Dr. Lundgren is the Director of Center for Addictions Research and Services, and is also a Professor of Welfare Policy and the Director of Research at BUSSW, where she has taught and conducted research since 1994. Her recent research agenda focuses on large-scale longitudinal research efforts examining the relationships between drug use-HIV and substance abuse treatment utilization. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator of four multi-year efforts, totaling $1,600,000 in study funds, and her collaborations with community based organizations has helped provide more than $10 million for service development in the areas of HIV and substance abuse treatment.
