Calling all BUSSW alumni for Alumni Weekend ’09
Over October 23-25, Boston University School of Social Work welcomes home alumni and friends for its annual Alumni Weekend. Alumni near and far are expected to return to Bay State Road to reconnect and see the first round of completed renovations to the School.
The School’s Alumni Association has also planned several events including an Alumni Reception on October 23rd, welcoming new social work faculty members Daniel Miller, PhD, Lisa Moore, PhD, and Nikki Wooten, PhD; the Alumni Awards Dinner highlighting the achievements and contributions of fellow graduates; and the Alumni Association Board meeting on October 24th.
The awards ceremony honors:
Ellen Harrington (MSW ’87) for an outstanding career in social work. Harrington is a clinical social worker at Boston Medical Center, and a field supervisor for the School’s Lowy-GEM Program in Aging.
Karen Lafrazia (MSW ’89) for her outstanding contributions to the field of social work as the Executive Director of St. Francis House, a center serving homeless men and women in Boston.
Eric Kamba (MSW ’04) with the Hubie Jones Urban Service Award for his work as a Refugee Program Manager at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Mena daSilva-Clark, assistant dean, for her outstanding contributions to the School as she continues to grow and lead the School’s Off-Campus Programs.
University wide events include the Howard Zinn lecture series on Thursday, October 22, and the Bicknell Lectureship on Friday, October 23 at the School of Public Health.
