11/11: Prof. Sprague Martinez Joins Nation’s Top Youth & Community Thought Leaders at UMichigan Symposium

Associate Professor Linda Sprague Martinez of BU School of Social Work is a panelist at a virtual symposium this Thursday focused on strengthening youth empowerment approaches to community engagement and action. Titled “Strengthening Youth Empowerment for Community Change,” the two-hour event hosted by the University of Michigan School of Social Work features a panel discussion and an audience Q&A. Sprague Martinez joins the panel as an expert in community-based participatory research, youth-led research and action, and community-driven approaches to health promotion. The chair of BUSSW’s Macro Department, Sprague Martinez is a nationally renowned researcher whose work has been disseminated widely in peer-reviewed journals such as Health Affairs and Journal of Adolescent Research.
Sprague Martinez will be joined on the panel by Adriana Aldana, associate professor at California State University, Dominguez Hills; Charles Lea, assistant professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work; Jaimée Marsh, executive director of FEEST; Maureen Sedonaen, CEO of the Greater San Francisco Habitat for Humanity; and moderators Barry Checkoway and Katie Richards-Schuster.
